Kenall SenScape LED Parking Garage Lights Offer Superb Efficacy and Glare Control

Abstract: A low profile parking garage and canopy luminaire with two uplight options optically coupled to primary light source for balanced, low glare illumination. SenScape can be integrated with occupancy detection and daylight harvesting using independent or adaptive lighting control.

Kenall's SenScape (SPG18 series) is a sealed, low profile luminaire designed to deliver optimal, low glare illumination for parking structures, canopies and low bay applications, including loading docks, high-ceilinged office, industrial, commercial and retail spaces. The SenScape product family has been specifically created to exceed IES recommended light levels for parking garages with an aesthetically pleasing profile that blends itself seamlessly into modern architectures. Whether it's an existing parking structure or new construction, the SenScape SPG18 series with its high-performance LED engine, thoughtfully designed optical system and rugged construction delivers visually comfortable light and remarkable energy efficiency which provide compelling justification of your trust in this product.

The SenScape 30-, 45-, 70- and 90-watt nominal luminaires deliver light outputs ranging from 3,455 lm to 11,728 lm in 70+ or 80+ CRI, in a choice of color temperatures including 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K and 5700K. With a system luminous efficacy of up to 134 lm/W, the Designlights Consortium (DLC) qualified garage luminaire provides significant energy savings and is eligible for the highest tier of utility rebates available. In addition to a higher color rendering capability than legacy metal halide or fluorescent lamps, the LEDs incorporated in the SPG18 series have a significantly longer life rated from 80,000 hours to 125,000 hours depending on the drive currents. Aside from a 100% downlight version, the IG Series includes the Standard Uplight (12%) and Enhanced Uplight (18%) versions which deliver uplight illumination to prevent a cave-like effect typically created by optics aimed downward and improve the volumetric lighting ratio in the space.

SenScape features a UV-stabilized, impact resistant polycarbonate housing which provides protection for the aluminum heat sink and aesthetical transition between the heat sink and mounting interface. SenScape luminaires are designed for direct-to-surface (DTS), trunnion (TK) or pendant mount (PM). The DTS luminaire mounts over recessed electrical box to ceiling. The quick-mount QM) version mounts to either surface or recessed electrical box. The DTS and QM versions have the option of sheltering the heat sink with a debris shield that provides protection from debris accumulation and nesting birds. The PM and TK luminaires come with an option of covering up the heat sink with a bird deterrent. The top PC housing is secured to the heat sink with tamper-resistant Torx fasteners.

The high thermal performance heat sink with internal fins which are designed to maximize contact with the surrounding air is constructed from marine-grade die-cast aluminum. A thermoset polyester powdercoat finish in matte white or light gray that is applied after five-step pre-treatment provides high corrosion resistance tested to withstand 1,000 hours of salt spray exposure per ASTM B117. An LED board which is mounted with a circuit of high power LEDs is mechanically fixed and thermally interfaced with the heat sink. High reliability, high operating temperature capable solder joints provide robust interconnects for thermal and electrical conduction, without the concerns of failures due to strains incurred in thermal cycling. High efficiency thermal management delivers up to 100W of power in 50° ambient environments, while dissipating heat to ensure excellent lumen maintenance and a high degree of chromaticity stability.

SenScape's precise optical distribution is provided by a one-piece injection molded lens assembly which has individual lens segments for each LED in the specified beam angles including Type V wide square and Type V narrow roadway distributions. The distribution pattern has been created to outstanding uniformity and optimize fixture spacing while delivering improved visual comfort and enhanced safety for parking garage applications. The high performance photometry is tested to the IESNA LM-79-08 standard by an ILAC/ISO17025 accredited laboratory. A UV-stabilized, high-impact resistant injection-molded clear textured polycarbonate or DR acrylic tertiary lens reduces glare and minimizes LED source luminance. It also maintains the design aesthetic and construction integrity of the luminaire when the occupancy and daylight sensors are added to SenScape. The tertiary lens is fitted by an outer PC trim ring which completes the sleek look of this luminaire.

SenScape is equipped with a constant current LED driver that accepts universal 120-277VAC, 347VAC or 480VAC 50/60Hz single phase input. The driver operates with a minimum 83% electrical efficiency, a high power factor (PF>0.95) and an extremely low total harmonic distortion (THD<10%). 0-10V dimming from 100% to 1% allows the luminaire to be integrated into various controls for maximizing energy savings. A built-in, replaceable surge suppressor is rated to 20kA/kV per IEEE/ANSI C62.41 Cat. A. The driver is EMC compliant with FCC 47 CFR Part 15, Class B, and passes IEC 61000-4-4 EFT and IEC 61000-4-5 (Class 4) surge evaluation.

SenScape parking garage luminaires are controls compatible, and Kenall offers integrated solutions to suit a variety of budgets. The TEKLINK TL50 is an independent lighting control system that can be incorporated into the luminaire, featuring its own embedded occupancy sensor and adjustable time-out/dimming settings. The TL50DM adds a closed-loop daylight harvesting function for maximum energy savings. SenScape can be paired with the standalone TEKLINK TL100 controller for centralized, wired zonal occupancy and closed-loop daylight harvesting control. SenScape can be adaptively controlled by connecting itself to the TL1000/TL2000 lighting control system which enables wired or wireless communication between system nodes. In addition to occupancy sensing and daylight harvesting, TL1000 and TL2000 provides advanced scheduling and energy management from anywhere with cloud-based management of system settings, reporting and notifications.

SenScape is certified to UL Standards by Intertek Testing Laboratory for wet location applications. The luminaire is sealed from the outside environment for tight ingress protection against moisture and dust. IP65 rating per IEC 60598 standard with optional IP66 rating. Suitable for installation into -40°C to 40°C ambient environments.
