Featuring intuitive user control, excellent manoeuvrability and effortless positioning.

LED Surgical Light

Merivaara Q-Flow LED surgical light guarantees the surgical team to visualize their work with complete accuracy, safety and comfort. This LED surgical light has been designed to bring perfection to operating room lighting which demands superior quality light, shadow-free illumination, convenient operation, ergonomic design, and zero infection risks. The Q-Flow is a part of the Merivaara Fluent concept, which gives attention to enhancing the usability of operating rooms. This thoughtfully engineered lighting solution delivers striking improvements on many standard features in the industry as well as radical innovations that set a new standard in surgical illumination. Whether you’re performing surgery, procedures or exams, the Q-Flow always provides dependable lighting to enable your team to concentrate on the surgical operation and operate confidently.

The Q-Flow Series offers an impressive combination of light coverage and illuminance intensity with up to 160,000 lux at 1 m distance and a large light field of up to 330 mm (D10) / 180 mm (D50). Delivering volumetric illumination with minimal power consumption throughout the luminaire's rated life that is remarkably longer than traditional halogen lights is just the technological bonus of solid state lighting. Faithful color reproduction, excellent beam performance, exceptional visual comfort, intelligent shadow dissolution, ergonomic lighting control, disinfection friendly design, great manoeuvrability and effortless positioning are where the Q-Flow LED surgical light really shines.

LED Surgical Light

In surgical and diagnostic applications, the correct perception of the colors of objects is absolutely a critical design discipline that can not tolerate any compromise. Leveraging an enhanced phosphor blend, the LEDs incorporated in the Q-Flow produce white light that exhibits visible spectrum radiation at all wavelengths of the spectrum but does not include the shorter wavelengths (UV) and longer wavelengths (IR). The broad spectrum white light has a spectral power distribution (SPD) uniformly spread throughout the visible spectrum. This simply means that the light spectrum contains high levels of every color, including R9, a saturated solid red, which is vital in the differentiation of various shades of red with tissues and blood, and R13 that renders natural skin tones with more depth. The Q-Flow is so far the only surgical light with near perfect color fidelity across the full visible spectrum with a color rendering index (Ra) of 98, a R9 value of 99, and a R13 value of 99.

Q-Flow's incomparable performance of color reproduction reduces color distortion and allows the surgeon to easily perceive every detail in exposed tissue, in every subtle shade of red. In addition, the cool, infrared-free light of the Q-Flow protects the tissue of patients from dehydration during prolonged procedures and alleviates the surgical teams from excessive heat exposure that causes discomfort. The LED surgical light shines at a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 3800K or 4500K which promotes alertness and boosts concentration levels. With an LED driver that effectively removes the current ripple at the output, Q-Flow produces flicker-free light that reduces eye fatigue, eliminates blurred vision and prevents strain. These superb features combine to contribute to comfortable and productive working environment while improving patient safety.

LED Surgical Light

Q-Flow's circular light assembly comprises 69 (Q-Flow 4, Q-Flow 4i) or 90 (Q-Flow 6, Q-Flow 6i) high power LEDs. Each optically independent LED module is fitted with an ingenious lens that merges all emitted rays into one focused beam. The large number of individual light beams converge to produce a homogeneous distribution of light, delivering high punch within the light patch and the column of light. This highly engineered optical system creates a precisely controlled light column, with an enormous depth of illumination, that penetrate into the deepest surgical caverns. Q-Flow's depth of illumination L1+L2 at 60% is 700 mm (Q-Flow 4, Q-Flow 4i) and 750 mm (Q-Flow 6, Q-Flow 6i). At 20% the value is 1400 mm (Q-Flow 4, Q-Flow 4i) and 1700 mm (Q-Flow 6, Q-Flow 6i). Deep column of light provides perfect 3D lighting in cavities with optimum visual clarity in the surgical field at all times.

The optical independence of the LED modules and Merivaara's proven reflector technology provide effective shadow suppression – even with just a single light head. Merivaara has developed the innovative Dynamic Obstacle Compensation (DOC) system to dilute shadows caused by obstructions at the surgical site. The sensor-controlled assistance system automatically identifies obstacles in the field of illumination and increases the light intensities of the LED modules that project light to the operating field while deactivating individual LED modules of which the rays are blocked. Adaptive shadow control allows the surgical light to deliver more than 60% of the system output to the target area even when up to 3 people are involved in the operation site. This makes a huge contribution to optimal perception, enabling uninterrupted work for the surgeons and minimizing risk for the patients.

The long column of white light generated by the Merivaara Q-Flow lights is always in focus. It is the only surgical light that maintains consistent light output at any light field diameter within its adjustable range. Light output of other systems can drop by as much as one third as they focus down. Intuitive Sterile Surgeon Control (Intueri™) is Merivaara’s latest patent pending innovation which allows the surgeon to adjust the brightness from 10% to 100% and light field diameter without looking up. With only a grip of the sterile handle which integrates capacitive sensors, an LED pilot laser will automatically appear around the surgical field to visualize the control interface. This ergonomic feature makes it possible for the surgeon to concentrate on the surgical field throughout the operation. Aside from that, the integrated green ambilite provides better visibility and reduces eye fatigue resulted from reflections on TFT monitors in dark rooms during laparoscopic or endoscopic procedures.

LED Surgical Light

Merivaara Q-Flow surgical light is designed to reduce the risk of hospital associated infections (HAIs) with a flow-optimized head. Shaped in concentric circles, the aerodynamic design of Q-Flow minimizes disruption of the laminar flow and allows an uninterrupted vertical flow of sterile air to be delivered to the operating table. The open design of Q-Flow guarantees maximum possible freedom from bacteria and pathogens in operating theatres equipped with ceiling-mounted airflow or laminar flow modules, including ultra clean ventilation (UCV) theatres. With a turbulence intensity of only 15.9% that is significantly lower than the standard turbulence intensity (37.5% max. according to the DIN 1946-4:2008), there is no additional particle burden created in the operating area. Moreover, the waterproof luminaire with IP65 level ingress protection offers excellent protection from fluid and dust penetration. Disinfectant-resistant, smooth outer surfaces facilitate cleaning procedures to meet stringent hygiene requirements.

The integrated HD camera system of Q-Flow provides 1080p digital quality video for digital image documentation, video conferencing and telemedicine. Wireless transmission enables live video feed to external monitors. The intuitive touch screen interface of Q-Flow allows seamless control of the light and camera. The surgical light can also be controlled with OpenOR theatre management system as well as Merimote, a multifunctional remote control which is capable of managing the light and camera outside the sterile operating area without disturbing the medical team.
